Live blame-free… Can you do it?

What a week we in Georgia had when SnowJam2014 hit!  It truly was an adventure–physically, economically, socially and spiritually even!  We all have our remarkable stories from that day, but I was particularly struck in the onslaught of interviews with the Governor and Mayor about this insistent, urgent and desperate need to BLAME someone/something/anything!

And it got me thinking, why do we do that, blame that is?  What is the purpose of blaming anyway?  Is it really necessary?  We do it all the time.  As children, we delight in blaming our siblings, as grown ups, when things don’t turn out the way we want or desire,  we blame our circumstances, we blame our past, we blame our parents, our partners, our money, we sometimes blame God.  But to what end?  Its as if we’re hiding behind blame.  I’m not saying other people don’t cause things in our lives, but how does blaming them bring joy or abundant living in our own lives?

What if we live BLAME-FREE?  What if we learn from our situations, reach inside the well of available possibilities God has already placed within us and take action, for ourselves?  I believe we would feel satisfied, strengthened, joyful, grateful, powerful and like conquering giants! We may have been given/born into  certain stories, but WE ultimately can write the ending.

Starting today, let’s live blame-free!

“Blame is simply the discharging of pain and discomfort.  We blame when we’re uncomfortable and experience pain-when we’re vulnerable, angry, hurt, in shame, grieving.  There’s NOTHING productive about blame and it often involves shaming someone or just being mean.” Brene Brown, Daring Greatly.

One Response so far.
