Want to shed a few pounds? Want to change your current situation? Sick and tired of being sick and tired?
Finally! The ultimate way to achieve all these things and more. It’s not simple, but it is successful. And the funny thing is, God revealed it to us from the very beginning. Work. Now that may sound trite. But when did “easy” become the ultimate goal, anyway? We want things, but we don’t want to do the work to get there.
When did doing two or three sit ups get you the fabulous abs you want?
In honor of Mental health Awareness month, I want to say, it takes work to feel better, to heal. Not “just snap out of it”, not “pray your way out of it”, not even “take a pill and it will get better”. It takes gritty, courageous, interior, bold work. Continuous efforts to discover new ways of being, “new norms”, new thoughts, new medicines, new therapies. A cure? A silver bullet? I don’t think so. But we can attain wholeness it if we are committed to choosing change in our lives.
It takes courage to ask for help. It takes courage to fight the embarrassment or whatever stops you from taking the first step. It takes courage to choose healing. But thank God that courage is already deeply embedded in our DNA. We just have to reach inside and pull it out.
My “silver bullet” to healing clinical depression?

1)Prescription Medicine (you may not need it forever, but some do)
2)Psycho-therapy (what I like to call “real, gritty, ‘I really don’t want to hear this but I need to’ talk” and also yoga, light, writing therapy-what works best for you)
3)Positive self-thinking (I have to change the way I see myself and certainly what I say to myself)
4)Psychiatrists (much more knowledgeable than I am about this stuff)
5)Prayer (Even if I am unable, I can count on others and God to follow me even in the valley of death)
6) People (sharing my story with others and hearing theirs-the power of a story! #yourstorymatters)
7)Playing (exercise-must make the time and the joy and relief in being able to laugh)
8)Preparation (know how to protect yourself-boundaries/being organized/seek balance)
9) Palate (food and drink is so important, it can throw you in a tizzy or bring you peace, calm and helpful energy)
“Isn’t is obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?.” (James 2:14-26) In the same way, we can’t want healing and not do the work to get there. Help, Hope and Healing is possible!
