Authentic Joy

Day 5. #pilgrimagetojoy

Joy comes with living an authentic life…one aligned with our purpose. Everyday we are faced with temptations- moments when we feel urgings, feelings, voices that entice us away from our true purpose, what we know is right for us. They bring us moments of fleeting satisfaction, or short-lived gratification…sometimes we hurt others with these choices. Sometimes we hurt ourselves.

We feel true joy, authentic joy, when we live into our purpose and listen to the quiet still voice inside us. That voice is able to withstand feelings of discomfort, or change, even dark moments. It is the sound of the genuine. That voice knows what is right on a visceral level. Right for us. Right for others. Right for the world. We know it when we hear it. I pray when we do, that we listen to it…for joy’s sake. .

“There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.

    Hello Beth-Sarah,

It’s been delightful reading this string of your writings of late. So nice to hear your voice on the page.

I’m still working away on my original manuscript I was working on at the workshop with Natalie Goldberg ( where we met last summer) as well as another story of fiction that is coming through and wants to be told.

I am truly enjoying all your Joy musings!

    Healthy Regards with Love,
    Monika
