Apocalypse Now-Be the light!
Live as children of light- for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.
Ephesians 5:8-14
Have you been tempted to watch all the pandemic and post-apocalyptic movies? I know I have. I confess, I’ve seen nearly all of them. We are in unprecedented times after all and I suppose I’m searching for some answers or imagining what could be. Instead of being a frightening thing, apocalypse, that is… I learned today (Thanks Bishop Hirschfield!) that apocalypse’s greek meaning is simply this: “a revealing, “an unveiling or unfolding of things not previously known.”
Well, we are definitely in an apocalypse then! We are witnessing extraordinary acts of kindness and thoughtfulness in these dark and fearful times! Impromptu concerts by professional artists and by musically inclined neighbors! A 2 day long virtual dance party hosted by popular DJ D’Nice gathering thousands of people in joy and song! Touching moments of virtual family gatherings. Spontaneous applause thanking healthcare workers working tirelessly to save people’s lives. Trust, the list goes on and on.
The apocalyptic time is now. It is our opportunity now. Let us reveal the light ….Let us unveil the right and true acts … Let us unfold the good in the world right now. Let us be the light!
